The Swiss Canton Fribourg is situated at the foot of the Swiss Alps where altitude, soil, rainfall and quality mixed pastures are most favourable for the production of fine cheeses. It was these green slopes and valleys that gave two famous cheeses to the world: Gruyere and Vacherin.
 

Today Master cheesemaker Yvan Aeby and his dedicated personal scrupulously preserve the tradition of Fribourgeois cheesemakers.

The Lac Noir Valley is mostly situated on the commune of Plaffeien and ends it's self with a beautiful lake. It's waters are definitely not black, but blue, turquoise or sparkling silver when it becomes a frozen winter wonderland - alive with skaters, children on sleds and walkers enjoying the unpolluted Alpine air. Most of the tourists come from Switzerland and all of Europe.
